On March 26, 2025, members of the Viimsi Youth Council carried out an educational and engaging activity at the Viimsi Väike Päike Kindergarten as part of a climate project, aiming to introduce environmentally friendly habits to children. The Youth Council members wanted to spark the children’s interest in protecting nature and show how everyone can positively impact the environment through their daily choices.
During the activities:
- The children played a waste-sorting game, learning which items belong in different bins.
- An educational game was held where children identified the natural environments in which various animals live.
- A discussion was organized on ways to save water and energy to help develop environmentally conscious habits from an early age.
- The importance of the Soosepa Bog was introduced, and a symbolic litter-picking activity was carried out to highlight the significance of caring for nature.
At the end of the event, each child received a diploma and a small gift from TalTech to recognize their active participation. The kindergarten teachers were also given a token of appreciation. We would like to thank TalTech for their generous sponsorship, which made it possible to give the children souvenirs and added extra value to our event.
The event was very successful, and it was clear that the children were genuinely interested in the topic. Activities like this help to foster environmental awareness from an early age and demonstrate that even small actions can make a big difference. The Youth Council is ready to organize similar initiatives for other kindergartens and schools as well.
